The climate of Cornwall remains mild in the winter months and approaches tropical heights during the summer season. It's for this reason that the area has a well deserved reputation for some of the most beautiful and exotic gardens in Europe.
The Eden Project has received a great deal of press attention since opening and has seen a phenomenal number of visitors grace the wonderous bio-domes - each filled with plant life and natural marvels from all over the world. Eden is also the ideal venue for entertainment including live bands, poetry readings and Cornish Dancing Evenings. Tickets are for sale at the hotel Reception and a door-to-door bus service runs from just outside our front gates.
Even before Eden hit the headlines, there has always been a wealth of great gardens which are perfect for an afternoon of exploring. Trebah Gardens, just 5 miles from the hotel, is 26 acres of sub-tropical paradise (with its own foreshore) which offers delights throughout the year. Trebah boasts a delightful gift shop with also operates on-line - to deliver everything from souvenirs of your visit to seeds and plants so that you can re-create a little paradise in your own garden. Again, a regular bus service means there's no need to take the car!
Other splendid gardens within easy travelling distance include Trelissick Gardens, Trewithen Gardens, Glendurgan Gardens , the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lamorran House Gardens - all perfect for an afternoon visit or an all day exploration. And while you're out in the open air, why not take a walk along some of Cornwall's 300 miles of unspoilt coast path? You can pick up the coast path from just outside the hotel and follow it for as long as you want, stopping off at the various beautiful beaches along the way.
